Sainte-Anne De Bellevue, QC Day 2

Miles Traveled 0
Total Miles Traveled 4925
Day 288

We decided to stay another day during the Quebec Day celebration.  Boats were traveling up and down the canal all day, and the town quickly filled with people joining in the festivities and watching boats.

It’s difficult to get close to a lock on the inland rivers, but in Canada you can walk up to a guardrail at the edge of the lock and watch the boats lock through, you can even walk across the top of the lock chamber doors while boats are entering the lock.  This picture was taken standing in the middle of the lock chamber doors, looking back at the canal wall.

We spent most of the day with Mark and Jody from North Carolina on “Gypsea”, talking about places we have boated, and our future boating plans.  They are not loopers, but enjoy traveling the waterways in the US and Canada.  We had a great time with them today and will be traveling together for the next few days.  One of the best experiences we have had since starting the Great Loop is the great people we have met during our adventure, and friends we have established along the way.
