Saint-Ours Lock, QC to La Grande River, QC

Miles Traveled 53.0
Total Miles Traveled 4878
Day 282

We continued north today on the Richelieu River until we entered the St. Lawrence River at Sorel-Tracy, QC.  The first thing we noticed was our reduced speed due to the opposing 2 mph current.

The river is wide, almost like a lake, but has a major shipping channel running through it.  We were passed by two large ships running 11 mph against the current.  Most of our cruising today was outside of the shipping channel.

We made the mistake of getting close to Montreal on a Saturday, I think anyone who owned a boat had it out on the river today.

We finally arrived at our planned secluded anchorage only to find 100 other boaters had the same idea.

We decided to turn around and anchor in a less congested area and fix our dinner.  About an hour and a half before dark, we headed back to our planned anchorage.  There were still several boats in the area, but we found a spot and dropped the hook for the night.
