Gibson Island, MD to Chesapeake City, MD

Miles Traveled 47.6
Total Miles Traveled 4154
Day 253

We pulled up more than our anchor this morning when we prepared to leave our anchorage.

This was another awesome day cruising on the Chesapeake Bay, the water was almost flat.  There is a small craft advisory for the bay tomorrow so we will be secured in a marina tonight.

This ship was cruising over 16 mph and created a 3-4 foot wave, we cut it at an angle and handled it without a problem.

This dredge is keeping the shipping channel at the required depth.

Beach front property?  I think I’ll pass.

The Turkey Point Light is a historic lighthouse at the head of the Chesapeake Bay.  Although only a 35 foot tower, the 100 foot height of the bluffs on which it stands makes it the third highest light off  the water in the bay.  It is also known for the large number of women who served as light keeper:  four of the ten known keepers, serving 89 of the 115 years the light was manned.

We are staying at the Bohemia Yacht Basin Marina.  We met friends that moved from Terre Haute, IN  to this area several years ago.  We had a great visit on the boat, then went out for  pizza in Elkton, then a visit to Chesapeake City on the way back.
