Belhaven, NC to Columbia, NC

Miles Traveled 55.4
Total Miles Traveled 3824
Day 244

We have several miles of open water yet to cross, and thankfully the weather has been cooperating for us.  Today we passed through 20 miles of the Alligator River Canal.  I had the camera ready, but the only wildlife we saw was a few turtles and one blackbird.

There were only a few nice homes along the canal.

This barge reminded us  of the inland river system.

This is brackish water, and brown as coffee.

As soon as we left the canal, we were greeted by two fighter jets.  We have no idea where they came from, or were they went.

We entered the Alligator River which is several miles long and wide, the reviews I have read indicate that waves can reach 6 feet with strong north or south winds.  We had a calm day and cruised 15 miles on the river before reaching our turn to the Alligator River Marina.

Hope that brown coffee water didn't stain the boat like it does my teeth. ;)

It does stain the boat :( it's called a brown mustache. It's just starting to show on our boat, but a lot of boats are stained bad. I hear lemon juice will take it off..but it also takes off the wax.
