Walaka, Fl To Fleming Island, Fl

Miles Traveled 57.8
Total Miles Traveled 3083
Day 220

The storms have passed but the wind is hanging on.  We left Welaka this morning and before the day was over we had 15-20 mph north east winds, needless to say we had a few 3 footers on the open water.  Most of our course allowed us to hit the waves at a 45 degree angle so the ride overall wasn’t too bad.

We did have an opportunity to use a range marker in the shallow part of the river.  Range Markers are found in pairs with one higher than the other.  Range markers indicate the center line of a channel by having them lined up as you pass through the channel.  They have vertically colored panels to assist you in lining them up.

After passing Palatka we passed our friends house, we had a great visit and great weather for a boat ride.

We anchored again in Black Creek at Fleming Island, we stayed here last week on the way up river.  It has good protection from the continuing north east winds.
