Ponte Verda, Fl to Fleming Island, Fl

Miles Traveled 68.3
Total Miles Traveled 2853
Day 212

Another windy day, but tidal currents helped push us up the St. Johns River to Jacksonville, Florida.  The St. Johns River is one of the few rivers in the US that flows South to North.  Sometimes the current works against us, like trying to stay in the middle passing under this bridge.

As soon as we left the ICW and headed up river, we noticed a big change in scenery.

This is still a functional railroad bridge, I’m glad it was open, it would have been a real challenge to hold the boat here with the current.

This is the Dames Point suspension bridge, the two spans in the middle are just hanging by the cables.

This is a view under the bridge where the two spans come together but not connected.

We found a nice peaceful anchorage about 2 miles up Black Creek near Fleming Island, Fl.

It wasn't planned, but if you zoom in on the map, we are anchored straight across from our anchorage last night.

Note to self: never drive across Dames Point suspension bridge.

Yes, we get a different perspective when crossing bridges. The support columns at the Cocoa bridge appeared to be full of cracks
