West DeLand, Fl to Walaka, Fl

Miles Traveled 48.2
Total Miles Traveled 3025
Day 216

Even though we knew alligators were swimming around our boat last night, we had a great night’s sleep at this secluded anchorage.

While I was making coffee this morning, I had the feeling I was being watched, when I looked out the galley window, this is what I saw.

We had planned to continue on to Blue Springs State Park, anchor out, and dingy in to the park to see the springs and Manatees.  The weather forecast was calling for early afternoon thunderstorms, and the extended 3 day forecast is also predicting thunderstorms.  We decided to head back north and find a secure place to ride out the weather.

We saw this alligator getting some sun on our way north, he is a big one.

We’ll probably hang out here at Walaka for a few days and let the weather settle down before moving on.  We have a lot of items on a to-do list, so we will take advantage of this break to catch up.  I changed the engine oil and filter when we arrived, then we walked up to town and ate at Shrimps R US.  Great shrimp dinner!
