Blind River, ON to Drummond Island, MI

Miles Traveled 44.6
Total Miles Traveled 5826
Days 336-340

We held up at Blind River for a few days to let the latest weather system move through.  Trying to figure out the lake conditions on the North Channel has been a real crap shoot.  One weather service would say winds 10-12, the next 15-20 mph.  Usually anything over 8-10 mph winds makes the lake too rough for us unless we can hit the wave’s just right……yes, we are fair weather boaters, we have no schedule and if it’s not going to be fun, we don’t go.

This was the view from the marina yesterday.

It was well worth the wait, we couldn’t have asked for a better day for boating, calm wind, flat water, and sunny skies crossing the North Channel to the USA.

Approaching Drummond Island, MI

We crossed the border into the United States about one mile before reaching Drummond Island Michigan.  We entered Canada from Rouses Point, New York on June 15th and have had a great time visiting the cities, small towns, and all of the great friendly people of Canada.  We have anchored in some of the most beautiful places in North America and are truly blessed to have had this opportunity.

As soon as we arrived at the marina dock, we were greeted by three US Border Patrol officers.  We had all of our paperwork in order and made sure we had consumed all of our fruits, vegetables, eggs, and chicken, before our arrival.  After answering a few questions, we were cleared to continue our adventure on America’s Great Loop.
