Day 24
The temperature this morning was 56 degrees, 20 below wind chill……okay I’m exaggerating a little. As soon as we pulled out of our slip it started to rain, the wind was blowing 10 to 15 mph. We were spoiled the previous two weeks with sunshine and 80’s.
We planned to anchor out near Decatur, AL in a bay by
Point Mallard. According to reviews,
after following a narrow channel 2 miles up Flint Creek, there was a good
anchorage in 10 feet of water in front of a County Park. After
entering the channel, the depth continued to decrease and when we reached the
County Park we were in 5 feet of water……in the channel. Our draft is 3 feet 8 inches and when leaving
the channel to anchor, we were showing 4 feet.
We decided to return to the river and continue to River Walk Marina to
wait out the rain and wind before continuing to our Joe Wheeler Lake
anchorages. We were very fortunate to have had the perfect weather
while cruising all the way to Chattanooga, TN.

Great trip so far and I am not caught up it seems. I'm envious. Keep 'er between the navigational beacons, Cap'n!
