Croker Island, ON to Beardrop Harbour, ON

Miles Traveled 28.5
Total Miles Traveled 5764
Day 335

Another beautiful morning along the North Channel, “Lazy W” at anchor on calm waters.

Heading northwest on the North Channel.

Do you see the unmarked rocks just above the surface of the water?  I’m glad we did.

We arrived at our anchorage before noon and dropped the dinghy in the water for some afternoon fishing and exploring.

I managed to catch a small Northern Pike.

We saw two very large beaver lodges, beavers are known for building dams, canals, and lodges (homes).  They are the second largest rodent in the world.  Their colonies create one or more dams to provide still, deep water to protect against predators, and to float food and building material.  They seldom house more than four adults and six or eight juveniles.  Some large lodges have one or more partitions.  We were not lucky enough to see a beaver, but they were probably watching us.

This may be our last Canadian anchorage, a storm front is moving in tomorrow night so we will be staying at a marina  until we have favorable weather to leave the North Channel and cross Lake Huron into the USA.
