Day 329
With high winds and possible afternoon thunderstorms predicted
for this afternoon, we weighed anchor just after daylight to get the open water
behind us. It felt like we had the
entire Georgian Bay to ourselves.
After several miles of open water, we left Georgian Bay
for Collins Inlet.
Just before the inlet, we passed through several very
narrow channels.
As soon as we entered Collins Inlet we saw a noticeable change
in scenery. Most of the islands and
channels we have seen the last few days have been low lying and thinly wooded. This area of the country has towering walls
of rock and thick pine forest. We
noticed the smell of pine as soon as we turned into the narrow passageway; you
just can’t resist taking a big deep breath of clean Canadian air.
This is the Killarney Lighthouse, located at Red Rock
Point, one mile east of the town of Killarney.
This is the World Famous Herbert Fisheries.
For the first 32 years, a refurbished school bus sat along the water’s edge in Killarney selling fish and chips, but now the bus is gone and has been replaced with a new restaurant. I must say, this is the best freshwater fish I have eaten……..except for the fish that Moni has caught of course.
