Day 286

What a great city!  Today we toured the city with looper friends that we met at Marathon, Florida last February.  They live here!  Their boat is “Seamont” and they completed the loop a few weeks ago, so now they are Gold Loopers.  We walked the streets of Montreal with Simon and Sylvi and had a very informative day learning about the city and its history.

The Hotel Le St. James is a historic building dating back to 1870 located on the cobblestoned streets of Old Montreal.

This is a bank that has been converted to a coffee house….that’s right, the upper floors are offices but the main floor is a coffee shop with comfortable seating and private rooms.

Da Bears.............lot's of fur in this shop, they had a coat rack with 50% off which dropped the price to $750.

This is the Notre Dame de Bon Secours Chapel originally built in 1675.  It was destroyed by fire in 1754 and re-erected over its original foundations in 1771.  Long beloved as the “Sailors Church”, there is a legend that the statue of the Virgin Star of the Sea was facing toward the city, but during a severe storm, the statue turned 180 degrees facing the St Lawrence River to protect the sailors.
