La Grande River, QC to Montreal, QC

Miles Traveled 8.71
Total Miles Traveled 4887
Day 284

We started our morning watching the wildlife looking for their breakfast.

We only traveled a few miles to enter the St Lawrence Seaway again, the closer we came to Montreal, the stronger the opposing current became.  This is a major shipping channel with shipyards covering the shoreline.

Olympic Stadium and Montreal Tower, the tower is the world’s tallest inclined tower at 574 feet.

I could only take one picture while approaching Montreal, before we reached the bridge we had a 5 mph opposing current making steering the boat a little bit of a challenge in the swirling water.

The marina is located a short walk from Old Town Montreal, so as soon as we took care of business, we walked to town.

This is the Notre-Dame Basilica, the architecture is unbelievable inside and out with hundreds of intricate wooden carvings.

The pipe organ has 7000 individual pipes, the same organist has been playing it for the past 42 years.

The Montreal Clock Tower, also called the Sailors Memorial Clock, is a memorial to the Canadian sailors who died in the First World War.  The clock was constructed in Croydon, England by the firm of Gillett & Johnston, and its mechanism is similar to the one that drives Big Ben at the palace of Westminster.  Visitors can make the 192 step climb to take in the view, but I don’t think my best mate will go for it.
