Day 122
We had planned to make it to Cabbage Key today, but fell
short due to slow cruising through Manatee Speed Zones and passing under or
around nine bridges. Only two of the
bridges had to open for us, the others were high enough for us to pass under
them.
This is a swing bridge that only had a nine foot clearance
under it, our boat needs 18 feet to clear a bridge. We called the bridge operator on channel nine from our VHF radio to request passage.
Most of the channel markers have bird nest in them, this
Osprey watched us as we passed the nest.
The small yellow triangle at the top of the red triangle indicates we are
on the Intracoastal Waterway. Since we
are traveling south, the red triangle is on our port (left) side.
There are some really nice homes along the waterway; some
of them have a view of the Gulf in the front, and the view of the ICW in the
back.
