Key West Florida, Day 7

Friday
Miles Traveled 0
Total Miles Traveled 2160
Days 145-148

We have spent this week touring Key West with our friends Bob and Deb and participated in the tradition of watching the sunset from Mallory Square.

The crowd starts to form about an hour before sundown.

Duval Street is the famous street in Key West that runs north and south from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.  From shore to shore the street is just over a mile in length and lined with art galleries, boutiques, inns, pubs and everything in between.  Near the southern end of the street is a marker that is the southernmost point in the United States.

The streets are congested with Pedi cabs, trolleys, bikes, mopeds cars, and the Conch train.

We also visited the lighthouse, which opened in 1823, and climbed the 88 steps to the top for a bird’s eye view of the city and waterfront.

Back at the marina, we noticed a lot of critters in the mangroves and walkways around the slips.

We also spotted this shark just off the walkway to the boat slips.

This is the first time we have seen the Customs and Border Patrol boats, they need a wider boat so they can add another engine.

Hey sounds like you are having fun. I love Key West. Word of warning, Don't try to take a camera up to the Garden of Eden. That is on the roof of the Bull Bar. I will be there in October for Fantasy Fest. I am sure you will hear about that. Also a good day trip is to take the trip over to Fort Jefferson. It's like 70 miles west of KW. I am still reading your blog so keep writing.
