Big Bayou Canot, AL to Dog River Marina, Mobile, AL

November 9th, 2015
Monday
Miles Traveled 32.0
Total Miles Traveled 1209
Day 61

We waited for a break in the clouds this morning, but it didn’t happen.  The forecast was for the wind to be 10 to 12 mph this afternoon and the boaters that came in yesterday have heard that Mobile Bay was not too bad, just a little choppy.

Our first obstacle was the 14 mile railroad bridge, it is a lift bridge that only has a clearance of 4 feet when lowered.

We spotted this eagle focused on his catch of the day.

We finally arrived at Mobile, AL leaving the waterway and entering the ship channel.  This was a very congested and confusing area, much different than the laid back waterway we have been traveling on for the past several days.  The tow to the right is in the middle of the channel.

Our boat looks like a toy compared to these ships.

We noticed they all have an escape vessel.

Some loopers have a “First Mate”, others have an “Admiral”, but I have a “Best Mate”, she was at the helm all the way through the shipping channel and into Mobile Bay…..awesome!

We passed a naval ship building yard, we were later told these are the new patrol boats.

This is a very cool navy power cat.

Unloading a container ship.

Entering Mobile Bay, about 15 miles of open water to Dog River Marina.

Awesome photo of the eagle! And I especially like the part about your "best mate!" She's amazing! :)
