Total Miles Traveled 7,699 since departing Green Turtle Bay, KY

We departed our home port at Green Turtle Bay Marina, Grand Rivers Kentucky on September 19, 2023, and returned May 13, 2025, cruising 7,699 miles. This will be one of our most memorable boating adventures as we cruised through Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida Keys, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the Bahamas. Although we were cruising for several months, we were very fortunate to meet our family and friends, and met several new friends, along the way. Every place we stopped, a marina, small town, a big city, or an anchorage, the people we met were very friendly and welcoming.
On May 3rd we departed our anchorage near Iuka, MS and traveled 55 miles to the Clifton Marina at Clifton, Tennessee. We caught up with our friends Mike and Jan, m/v Trust Me, who spent the winter at Key West. Green Turtle Bay is also their home port.
We departed Clifton, TN on May 4th and
traveled 63 miles to Pebble Isle Marina.
Our plan was to get fuel, then celebrate Cinco De Mayo at the restaurant
on the 5th. Unfortunately, the restaurant
was closed until the 17th, but the dock master did deliver fresh warm cinnamon
rolls to the boat the following morning.
We met a very interesting boater at Pebble Isle Marina, he helped us at the fuel dock, then tie up at the transient dock. He is completely refitting an older sailboat and said he is going to sail it to California??? We hear future plans from people everywhere we go, and didn't think too much about this one. He said he has a YouTube site, so we thought we would check it out, turns out he's a helicopter pilot and mechanic and has been all over the world with some very interesting stories. You never know who you'll meet on the water. The Red Horse Story was unexpected.

We left Pebble Isle on May 5th and traveled 37 miles to an anchorage at Panther Bay on Kentucky Lake. This is one of our favorite anchorages and stayed two days.
On May 7th we traveled 27 miles to another anchorage at Sugar Bay, we stopped at Ken Lake Marina on the way and met our friend Steve Young, m/v Forever Young for lunch at the marina grill.
With a storm front approaching we only anchored one night at Sugar Bay, on May 8th we traveled only 4 miles to an anchorage at Duncan Bay for better wind protection. The lakes on the Tennessee River are our favorite places to anchor, we stayed at the Duncan Bay anchorage for 5 days, you just can’t beat fresh caught fish for dinner.
A little foggy after the storm front passed through, we had some pretty strong wind but the anchor held well in the Kentucky mud.
We weighed anchor on May 13th and traveled 13 miles to Green Turtle Bay marina.
Waiting on the transient dock for a covered slip to become available.
We attended the annual flag retirement ceremony on the beach a Green Turtle Bay, a respectful way to dispose of worn and damaged American flags. Needless to say, our flag was ready for retirement.
There were several veterans present during the ceremony, a Korean War veteran kissed his flag, unfolded it, and saluted it after tossing it into the fire, very moving.
We will be at Green Turtle Bay for the summer visiting family and friends and anchoring on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. This will be my last post until we head south again late in September
or early October.
